Air Cleaners

Air Cleaners, Purifiers, Filters, Humidifiers, Air Conditioners, UV LightHEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
Do you see duct particles in the air when a beam of sunlight passes through your window? Dust particles of course are easy to spot when they adhere to your furniture. The average house is believed to contain about 3 million dust particles in every cubic foot of air.
If you suffer with allergies, asthma or other respiratory problems, then you are no doubt sensitive to airborne particles – which can cause you big problems. The generic term “dust” can include in its meaning – dead skin, mold, pet dander, cooking smoke, cigarette smoke and ash, fireplace smoke and ash, mildew, fungi, pollen, etc.

DUST REMOVAL
Specialty air cleaners, purifiers, and filters are designed to remove dust from indoor air. Visible dust is about 10 microns in diameter – the type that can lodge in your lungs can be about .3 microns. The tip of a sharp pencil is about 200 microns in diameter. Small self-contained air cleaners are available that sit on tabletops or floors and generally serve single rooms.

WHOLE-HOUSE SYSTEMS
Whole-house filters can be attached to your home’s forced-air furnace. They work by mechanical filtration, electrical attraction, or a combination of the two.
Electrostatic precipitation air cleaners usually draw particles in with the use of a fan and charge the particles with a series of high-voltage wires. Precipitation cells (a series of plates) carry an opposite electrical charge to attract the particles to the plates as they pass by.
Whole-house filtering methods can be very effective at removing odors, some gases, pollens, and other dirt particles. Generally up to about 95 percent of bulk dirt and 85 percent of microscopic particles can be removed with the right system when correctly installed.
